Dimensional Letters

Individual 3D letters that bring your name off the wall and into the room.

Dimensional letters are individually fabricated three-dimensional characters mounted directly to a wall, building fascia, or raceway. Unlike flat printed graphics that sit on a surface, dimensional letters project outward, creating depth, shadow, and a physical presence that commands attention and communicates permanence.

Stonetree Signs produces dimensional letters in aluminum, acrylic, PVC, and HDU foam depending on the application, budget, and desired look. Interior lobby installations often use brushed aluminum or illuminated acrylic for a polished corporate feel. Exterior applications frequently use painted aluminum or HDU for durability and weather resistance.

Letters can be non-illuminated (relying on ambient light and shadow), halo-lit (LED behind each letter creates a glow effect against the wall), or face-lit (light shines through a translucent face). We design and produce all types, and can work with your building's architectural features to achieve exactly the look you're after.

Common Questions

What's the difference between dimensional letters and channel letters?

Channel letters are a specific type of dimensional letter: they're hollow metal housings with an acrylic face and internal LED illumination. 'Dimensional letters' is the broader category that includes both lit and unlit options in a wider range of materials, including solid aluminum, PVC, acrylic, and HDU foam. Channel letters are typically used for storefronts; dimensional letters cover everything from lobby signs to exterior building ID.

How are dimensional letters mounted to a wall?

Letters are typically mounted with stainless steel studs that are set into the wall and secured with nuts behind the letter. This holds each character firmly while allowing a precise reveal (gap) between the letter and the wall, which is especially important for halo-lit installations where the light gap needs to be consistent.

Do you do interior lobby signs?

Absolutely. Interior dimensional letters are one of our most popular applications. From reception area nameplates to large-scale wall logos for conference rooms, we design and install interior dimensional signage that makes a strong first impression.

What's the cost range for dimensional letters?

Cost depends on the material, letter size, number of characters, mounting method, and whether the letters are illuminated. Non-illuminated PVC or acrylic lobby letters are the most economical option, exterior aluminum letters run higher, and lit letters add LED components and electrical work.
